👩🏽‍💻 while this guide details how to capture video from an external video camera with a video capture device, you can follow along and test with just your webcam. Since video chat apps heavily compress video to reduce bandwidth, there’s never been much need for high-quality webcams. They are compact, cheap cameras designed with the reasonable assumption that they’d be used for video calls and the like.
